The Clyde Coastal Path (aka the Ayrshire Coastal Path) runs from Stranraer to the Kelly Burn at Wemyss Bay. It was developed many years ago and, indeed, we have completed quite a few of the delightful coastal sections using the trains from Troon, Irvine, Prestwick and even Ardrossan. Recently, the Gourock Rotary Club took the initiative and raised the funds to extend the Coastal Path from Wemyss bay to Milngavie – a distance of 55 miles – so that walkers could continue on the West Highland Way to Fort William . We will do but 8 miles of this! In order to take advantage of the downhill slope, we’ll walk the last bit backwards, starting at Milngavie (arriving by train) and finishing at the station in Old Kilpatrick for the train home. We’ve been exploring Scotland for thirty six years and STILL there are new paths to explore!
