Saturday, 14th September: Going for the view

This walk visits the picturesque Beecraigs Country Park which has spectacular views, particularly from Cockleroy (Arran, the Forth Bridges and Linlithgow).

A detour through Witchcraig Wood will pass the only War Memorial in the UK to commemorate those killed in the Korean War (1950-1953).

Starting from the Visitor Centre the walk begins on Sutherland’s Way and emerges at Beecraigs Loch. The dam was built by WW1 German prisoners.  Having circled the loch the route enters woodland and exits the Country Park into Witchcraig Wood.  The path then re-enters the Country Park before arriving at the Balvormie parking area. Cockleroy Hill is close by and the adventurous can climb the hill for the views.  After the descent the path returns to the Visitor Centre.
